I've been traveling professionally and personally since the end of
October. I looked at my schedule this week and was extremely elated that
I will be in DC by choice the entire month of February. I immediately
began to reach out to a few people that I haven't had time to spend with
and the reactions were interesting. For the most part, it was pure joy
and comments that not only was I missed but there were conversations of
calendars syncing so that we could make time to truly catch up on each
others' lives. There's nothing like face time, even when you talk to
people weekly, if not daily.
There were a few people that I
realized didn't necessarily notice that I was gone for an extended
period of time or my absence simply didn't impact their lives. And while
my feelings were hurt, I take into consideration that life continues no
matter what. It's been a great lesson that you can't spend more time
caring about others than you do yourself.
